When people ask Tucker Hibbert how many snocross medals he has won at the Winter X Games, he will have to hold up both hands. In January, 2011, at the 15th Winter X Games, Hibbert won his fifth consecutive snocross gold medal and sixth overall. This win broke the tie Hibbert had with Blair Morgan, who holds five Winter X snocross gold medals.

Claim to fame

Hibbert is now tied with Nate Holland—a snowboarder—for the most consecutive medals in one discipline. When asked what this sixth win meant for him personally and professionally, Hibbert stated that any win, whether great or small, is an important accomplishment.

“It is big but it is no bigger than last year's win,” said Hibbert. “But to keep being successful at an event in the X Games is super important to me as an athlete and my team and sponsors—just being able to be successful year after year means a lot to me.”

Hibbert said that preparation and dedication all aided in his big win in January but added that after each win, a little bit of the pressure subsides.

“Obviously you never know what is going to happen but (my team and I) worked hard beforehand,” said Hibbert. “Going into the race I was confident that I had a chance of winning. I just needed to go out, not make mistakes and get a good start, which are key parts to winning races. After winning a few times, it starts to get easier—it wasn’t a huge suprise but it is always exciting.”
