Where to get snowmobile trail passes and trail maps for Whitecourt

Going snowmobiling in Whitecourt, Alberta? Here are some things you should know before you go

Snowmobilers are required to purchase an Alberta Snowmobile Association (ASA) trail pass to ride the 465 kilometres of trails around Whitecourt, Alberta. It is $20 per sled, per day, or $70 for an annual trail pass if you get it before January 1st. After January 1st, the annual trail pass is $80.

ASA trail passes are available at the following locations in Whitecourt: IGA, RPM Powersports Ltd., Adrenaline Powersports Ltd. and First Choice Truck & Car Wash. You can also get a trail pass from most members of the Whitecourt Trailblazers Snowmobile Club. 

Where can I get a snowmobile trail map for Whitecourt?

Detailed maps of the snowmobile trails in Whitecourt are available on the Whitecourt Trailblazers’ website. A more general map of the trails can be downloaded from SnoRiders' website. Hard copies can be picked up at Whitecourt’s Visitor Information Centre, which is in the same building as the Forest Interpretive Centre. The address is 3002 - 33rd Street, and in the winter, it is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

What about insurance?

According to the ASA, snowmobilers must have a minimum coverage of $200,000 public liability and property damage insurance to ride on public property in Alberta.

The snowmobiling bylaw in Whitecourt

Snowmobiling within town boundaries is allowed from December 1 to March 31, but snowmobilers are asked to take the most direct route to the trails from their home, hotel or wherever they are storing their sled.
