After months of speculation and thousands of votes, the SledTown ShowDown finals are finally here. Congratulations to Tumbler Ridge, B.C., and Flin Flon, Manitoba. These two SledTowns have outlasted the rest, dispatching the strongest SledTown from their nearest provincial neighbours in the process. One of these two highly touted snowmobiling destinations will be crowned as the brand new SledTown ShowDown champion.

The finals are here. Which SledTown will reign supreme? Tumbler Ridge, B.C., or Flin Flon, Manitoba? You decide!

Here are a few of the highlights from Round 5:

  • Once again, Tumbler Ridge edged out its competitor by the narrowest of margins. Tumbler Ridge (16,938 votes, 51 per cent), B.C., beat Edson (16,820 votes, 49 per cent), Alberta, by a nose—or rather, the tip of a ski—in a photo finish.
  • Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan, put up a valiant effort but fell short of the mighty Flin Flon, Manitoba. Flin Flon (8,539 votes, 55 per cent) got an early lead against Hudson Bay (7,090 votes, 45 per cent) and gave no quarter to its adversary, holding onto the advantage throughout.

The polls are open and it’s time to cast your votes in the 5th annual SledTown ShowDown. You can vote for your pick once a day until the final round closes.

Round 6 runs January 2 to 20, 2019 at midnight, Central time, 11 p.m. Mountain time and 10 p.m. Pacific time.

New to the contest? This is how it works: we start with 16 destinations from each Western province in Canada. Each round, our readers vote for their favourites and the destinations get whittled down. By Round 4, we’ll have our provincial winners, which will go head-to-head until only one town remains to be crowned the 2019 SledTown ShowDown Champion of Western Canada.

Here’s what the winner gets:
