Thunderstruck 14 features a healthy mix of backcountry ride styles

Thunderstruck 14 is out, and thanks to filmmaker Jim Phelan, any memories we have of last season’s epic drought conditions can be forgotten. The team searched Western Canada and the Northwestern U.S. for fresh snow and found plenty of it.

There is lots of deep powder riding in Thunderstruck 14, as well as a healthy combination of chute climbing, airtime and the technical stuff. The usual suspects, Randy Swenson, Trennis Baer and Mark Mesenbrink, are back, as is everyone’s favourite son—Linden Ladouceur. If you’re a boondocker, you’ll also love watching Caleb Kesterke’s segment. She-shredder Rhonda Down shows us what the ladies can do and for the snow bikers, Brock Hoyer brings the newly dubbed sport of Timbersledding into the mix.

In true Thunderstruck fashion, we also get to see what two lucky fans of the American rock group Jackyl were up to last March at the World Snowmobile Expo in West Yellowstone, Montana. One hint: lead singer Jesse James Dupree rocks the FXR monosuit.

Overall, Thunderstruck 14 is a good all-arounder. It may not be the most polished film out there, but it does serve up a man-sized helping of pure sled porn—family friendly of course!
