Motorfist Women’s Hydrophobic Jacket

With more women arriving on the sledding scene, more companies are offering ladies-specific riding gear—Motorfist being one of them. And it’s not just a few items. This Idaho-based company offers everything from jackets and pants to gloves, T-shirts and other casual wear.

This season, I was lucky enough to test out the Women's Hydrophobic Jacket from Motorfist and I was pleased with its performance. As the name implies, the Hydrophobic Jacket is designed to repel moisture from the rider’s body. Mountain sledders know how important this is. Guiding a 500-pound sled into the backcountry is no easy task—especially in two feet of fresh snow—and we work up a sweat quickly.

Made from a polyester fleece, the jacket is designed to keep you warm and cozy but it's not bulky so it can be worn comfortably as a base- or mid-layer. The jacket features a full front zipper, two hand pockets and thumbholes on the wrists. On a personal note, I love that the jacket is a full zip-up because I hate pulling fleece material over my face. And with the jacket’s glove-engineered zipper pulls, its easy to adjust the zipper without taking off your gloves.
