Old Sled Sighting—1989 Ski Doo Safari

A vintage ad for this sled stated: "Would be a great sled . . . for an old guy to go ice fishing or to the beer store."

I found this little lightweight 1989 Ski Doo Safari sitting on the side of the highway with a for sale sign hung on it. It was in pristine condition.

The hand written for sale sign attached to one side stated, "Great lightweight Ski-Doo, great for kids or adults—very low hours, otto (sic) mixing oil and gas, with a wide ski stance. Only $250."

As one aftermarket part distributor says, "The Safari was designed by Ski Doo to be an entry level adventure trail snowmobile. These snowmobiles are great for families. Less experienced riders will not be overwhelmed, but it is still a dependable and fun sled. With different options, the Safari provided a sled for just about anyone who was looking for a good trail sled."

Or as another ad for a 1989 Ski Doo Safari read, " Would be a great sled for kids, wife or girlfriend to putt around on, or for an old guy to go ice fishing or to the beer store."

I couldn't help but be impressed with this little, lightweight, slightly-used Ski Doo—I can only hope it goes to a good home.
