The Whitecourt Trailblazers Snowmobile Club has been working with the Town of Whitecourt, Woodlands County, the Alberta Snowmobile Association, and Travel Alberta since March 2013 on planning the 2015 World Snowmobile Invasion in Whitecourt February 11-15, 2015.
The Event will feature a number of snowmobile related events and showcase snowmobiling as a sport enjoyed by millions around the world.
The 5 day event will include:
- Guided tours on the Golden Triangle & Silver Summits Trail Systems on Feb 11-13
- A World Record Snowmobile Parade on Feb 12, 2015 featuring more than 820 snowmobiles from across Canada and the USA (including antique snowmobiles)
- 2 Snowmobile Freestyle Shows on Feb 13 & 15, 2015 (evening shows) featuring Winter X-Games extreme freestyle riders
- Western Canadian Beerfest on Feb 13, 2015
- World Snowmobile Showcase on Feb 14, 2015 where Live Entertainment and Food and Beverages will be enjoyed from various snowmobiling countries around the world.
- World Snowmobile Rallies on Feb 15 & 16, 2015. Each checkpoint along the Rally circuit will be decorated in various Snowmobile nations and riders will have the opportunity to sample some food from those nations while on the trail.
The 2015 WSI Organizing Committee has been working closely with Honourable Rob Merrifield , Member of Parliament for Yellowhead to set up meetings with the Ambassadors for USA, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Japan
