Tucked away in the scenic West Kootenay, the community of Kaslo is famous for its friendly residents, rich arts and culture scene and unbeatable outdoor recreation.

What you might not know, is that the terrain around Kaslo is some of the best snowmobiling territory in the region.

The sledding season is extensive, starting around October and often continuing into the early summer months. The peak season generally runs from January through March, so you might want to plan a late winter excursion to see Kaslo's snow conditions at their best.

Speaking of stellar snow conditions, the deep powder and ungroomed trails are just waiting for adventurous sledders to explore. There are a number of old mining roads and logging roads, which are now used for snowmobiling and allow access to beautiful woodland viewpoints. Mount Buchanan is a particular favourite for alpine sledders.

To find out more about this hidden gem, visit the Kaslo and Area Chamber of Commerce website, or the Nelson Kootenay Lake Tourism website.
