Nextech helmet/handlebar light

by Kirsten Armleder

The days are short during the wintertime and snowmobilers are often riding the trails or loading up their sleds in the dark. Those are times when an extra light comes in handy.

Nextech Industries, based out of Sherwood Park, Alberta, has developed a new LED light that can be attached to a helmet or mounted on the handlebars of a snowmobile.

Called the NI-HL 10, this light puts out 1,000 lumens of light, which is equal to the light of a 100-watt incandescent bulb—but it draws only 10 watts of power.

The light comes with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery to provide four hours of illumination, or it can be purchased with a voltage regulator that connects to a 12-volt power supply, for unlimited use. The settings on the NI-HL 10 can be adjusted from high to medium to low or set on emergency flash. According to Nextech, the NI-HL 10 is a small but powerful light that is easy to install.
