Duraflex Ice Scratchers

by Kirsten Armleder

Ice scratchers are snowmobile accessories that help lubricate the sliders and cool the temperature of your machine when riding on ice or hard-packed snow by flipping up fresh snow from your track onto the heat exchanger.

Ice scratchers work well, but how many times have we put our scratchers down, forgotten about them and then accidently gone in reverse? Snap! There goes 80 to 100 bucks!

Duraflex Ice Scratchers from Between the Lines Designs LLC are different—they are cable scratchers so they will flex with the sled in reverse.

Duraflex Ice Scratchers were formerly known as Slidekicks, but they have been redesigned and given a new name for the 2012-2013 sledding season.

The new Duraflex Ice Scratchers feature carbide tips for extra durability and improved crimps for greater hold, and they have a knurled mounting surface to eliminate spinning bolts and loosening on the slide rails. The designers at Between the Lines have also increased the downward angle of the scratchers to increase down pressure and prevent the scratchers from unhooking when they are stowed on the rails. Duraflex Ice Scratchers come preassembled for one-bolt mounting, which makes them easier to install than their predecessors, the Slidekicks.
