Nipawin is a snowmobile-friendly community with amazing sledding terrain. The trails are kept well marked and groomed by the Twin Lakes Trail Blazers club, and many of the trails can be accessed directly from the snowmobile bypass route in town. This bypass goes completely around Nipawin and leads to all of the trails north and south of town.

Except for the main street, Central Park and select hospital routes, snowmobiles are permitted on almost any street in Nipawin. Sledders can ride directly from motels or gas stations all the way to the bypass and onto the trails, and there is even a sledding trail across the Francois-Finlay hydroelectric dam. A local snowmobile rental company provides machines for riders needing a sled.

South of Nipawin the landscape consists of a mixture of farmland and forest. The northern trails lead primarily through boreal forest, with thicker evergreens farther north. The region is replete with creeks and wildlife, so be sure to take along a camera. When Codette Lake freezes over, it is another popular place to snowmobile.
