There’s a lot of hype surrounding the new 800 Pro-RMK 155 from Polaris. So what’s the big deal? Well, for 2013, Polaris shaved off 14 pounds and now the sled has an estimated dry weight of 417 pounds. It has a new belt-drive system, carbon-fibre overstructure, a lightweight seat and adhesive bonded suspension components.
The QuickDrive low inertia drive system—which includes an extruded drive shaft, a lightweight brake, an RMK-specific brake caliper and a maintenance-free belt drive—reduces rotational inertia by 21 per cent so riders can accelerate quicker and carve easier.
The new Pro-Ride chassis with carbon fibre overstructure helps to reduce the weight of the sled and is designed to provide better weight transfer. Polaris also says that the the belly pan and suspension torque arms are lightweight but durable.
Snow buildup on the running boards should be reduced with the new Powdertrac running boards on the new 800 Pro-RMK 155. They are fabricated from extruded aluminum with bonded cast lugs and have a 50 per cent open area and integrated traction.
With these new improvements, Polaris claims the 800 Pro-RMK 155 is a lightweight, strong and extremely flickable machine.
