Thunderstruck 13 is out, and film producer Jim Phelan did well this year in capturing all the major elements of mountain sledding without straying too far from his signature hillclimbing segments.
The DVD is about 30 per cent climbing and the rest a mix of technical tree riding, deep powder play, jumping, and of course, crashes. B.C. boy Brock Hoyer even gives us a little taste of what a Timbersled snow bike can do in the hands of a pro motocrosser.
The craziness continues throughout the movie with the big air antics of Shad Simmons and cliff drops of Cam “Hollywood” Hicks. And then there’s Linden Ladouceur, who scored not one but two full segments in this year’s Thunderstruck 13 DVD.
The usual suspects—such as Randy Swenson, Trennis Baer and Mark Mesenbrink—are back for more attempts at tackling the gnarliest chute climbs Revelstoke, B.C., has to offer. Some attempts are successful and then others, well, we’ll let you watch the carnage and then decide.
The music score of Thunderstruck 13 is a mix of alternative rock, techno and metal, and sometimes, to our delight, the sounds of turbo-boosted sleds can be heard over it.
With an hour and 48 minutes of edited footage, Thunderstruck 13 gives viewers a good bang for their buck. Thanks to Phelan, it’s 100 per cent family friendly.
