509 Volume 8 film review

by Kirsten Armleder

If you’re only going to watch a couple of sledding videos this season, make sure 509’s Volume 8 is one of your picks.

Hands down one of the most professionally produced films of its kind, Volume 8 features stunning cinematography with breathtaking footage from Canada, the U.S. and even Russia.

Starring Chris Burandt, Brett Turcotte, Kalle “KJ” Johansson, Keith Curtis, Dan Adams, the Micku brothers and others, Volume 8 is a good all-rounder. It showcases pretty much all aspects of sledding but we did think it could use a little more boondocking and tree riding—stuff that the average rider could aspire to. Hillclimbers may also be left wanting but those who like seeing big airs, whips and drops will be fully satisfied.

What makes this film different than the others we’ve watched so far this season are the interviews. Not too long and not too short, the interviews provide fans with a glimpse into the personality of their favourite riders.

Volume 8’s running time is approximately 60 minutes. The film ends with footage of epic whoopsies and wipeouts played during the credits.
