Get out into the pristine and snowy winter playground that makes Chetwynd such an undeniable snowmobiling destination.

Whether hitting up a small network of mapped trails or ploughing through meadows of deep powder, the country surrounding Chetwynd offers terrain and conditions for all levels.

Silver Sands is one popular area for people to ride, with roughly 24 kilometres of main trail that forms a loop. Spurs jut off into wilder country for access to bowls and mountainous terrain. A warm-up hut and cabin are also accessible on the main trail if there’s a need to stop and take shelter from the elements.

Meadows to mountain slopes

Another network of trails is accessible 57 kilometres up the Hasler Forest Service Road, off Highway 97, where there is a staging area to safely unload your ride and equipment. From there, sledders can access powdery bowls and meadows as well as steep mountain slopes.

There are no warm-up huts in the Hasler area so be sure to dress appropriately for the weather, and take along some essentials like a snack, survival kit and a saw.
If you’re riding on steep slopes, a beacon, shovel and probe are life-saving tools in case of an avalanche.

For info call the Pine Valley Trail Blazers at 250-788-9128. Silver Sands and Hasler area maps can be picked up at the local visitor centre.
