Duck Mountain Provincial Park extends from Saskatchewan to cross the Manitoba border, and it is blessed with a plethora of nearby snowmobile trails. One of the most sled-friendly communities in the area is Kamsack, located west of the park. The Kamsack Snow Drifters maintains trails in all directions and keeps them in tip-top shape for riders.
Wondering where to start? Try heading southwest of Kamsack on the Trans-Canadian Snowmobile Trail. This route leads directly to Yorkton, and the Snow Drifters Hideaway cabin is only 15 kilometres from the staging area.
From the Hideaway cabin, you might venture up to Veregin (also accessible by heading directly west from Kamsack). At that point you can choose to head north to Norquay. Along the way you can find The Palace, a popular warm-up shelter maintained by the Kamsack Snow Drifters. This area is well-loved by beginners, families and experienced riders alike.
Another place to ride is to the Green Lake Shelter, which can be accessed from the staging area in Kamsack or from within the park itself. The trails here are well-groomed and provide easy riding with plenty of signage. Stop at the shelter to wrap up your trip or just for a quick warm-up before you explore the 70 kilometres of trail networks that meander through the park.
If you want to take a longer journey, you can ride out to Ketchamonia Shelter. It can be found by following the park trails to the far north end. The terrain along the way is scenic, groomed and appealing to intermediate riders.
