Organizers of the upcoming World Snowmobile Invasion (WSI) are still busy getting the word out. To date, they have sent out more than 3,000 invitations to various snowmobile groups the world over.

Countries that have been invited include the U.S., Russia, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Japan, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Latvia, Greenland, Montenegro, Lithuania, Macedonia, Romania, Switzerland, Austria, Great Britain and Denmark. These are all the countries that offer snowmobiling as a winter sport.

Although not all of them have snowmobile clubs (according to Cindy Brooks, who is the WSI event planner, only four countries in the world have official snowmobile clubs), they all have snowmobiling dealerships.

So far, WSI organizers have confirmed that Canada, the U.S., Sweden, Norway, Finland and Japan will be represented at the event.

In June, the organizing committee had a meeting in Ottawa with some of the country ambassadors, which has led to them making contact with each of the Canadian ambassadors in the U.S., Sweden, Finland and Japan. Their response has been encouraging.

“We have had great responses from everyone and are still hopeful we will get some representation at our event,” said Brooks.

The goal, according to Brooks, is to have every country in the world that offers snowmobiling represented at the event. With their co-operation, the WSI in February is sure to be a world-class event.
