Scott Barsby loves the pow around Radium Hot Springs

For this avid sledder, it's all about lots of snow, deep powder, great trails and family time

Scott Barsby is the general manager of Toby Creek Adventures, based out of Radium Hot Springs, B.C. Toby Creek Adventures has been in operation for 16 years, offering quality guided tours in the Columbia Valley. Barsby, 40, has been riding the powder in the area for about 20 years.

What year, make and model is your snowmobile?

Toby Creek Adventures has a fleet of 50 (sleds) but my favourite one to ride would probably be the Arctic Cat M8. I've been quite happy with it and how it loves to shred up that pow.

What is your favourite kind of sledding?

I love boondocking (and) deep pow, and I really enjoy exploring and always seeing what's over the next horizon.

What do you like most about sledding in the area?

I love all the diverse features that Radium, Invermere and the whole Columbia Valley have to offer. You get good quality groomed trails and get to ride in areas that are not overly used. I love the glaciers, alpine lakes (and) trees, and the fact that we get a ton of snow. I also think one of my favourite parts about snowmobiling is that it's quality family time. I have two girls, ages eight and 11. They sometimes find it hard to get up in the morning to go, but once they are out there, they are jumping for joy.
