Robert Rust

Profile of snowmobiler Robert Rust of Whitecourt, Alberta

by Michelle Carr Johnston

An Alberta farm boy at heart, Robert Rust is no stranger to snowmobiles. He started riding around the farm with his dad over 30 years ago on his 1974 400 Cheetah. Although they were at one time simply a piece of equipment for doing farm chores, snowmobiles have become pure recreation for Rust.

His current ride is a 2006 900 Mountain Cat, and Rust said it is great for boondocking—something he loves to do on the trails around Whitecourt.

The Golden Triangle is the draw, according to Rust.

“You can easily spend several days sledding here," he said.

Rust hopes to include Crowsnest Pass in his future snowmobiling plans because of the more than ample snow and the typically warm temperatures.
