Last season, Mike Kostynuk put the suspension to the test on his 2012 Polaris Pro-RMK Assault 155 when he hit a big jump in the Lumberton area near Cranbrook, B.C.

Current city: Cranbrook, B.C.

Hometown: Ontario

Age: 22

Occupation: Sales consultant at Denham Ford (BC) Ltd. in Cranbrook, B.C.

Hobbies: Snowmobiling, hunting, UTVing

My ride: 2012 Polaris Pro-RMK Assault 155

What do you like about your sled? It’s unreal. You can just lean—you don’t have to throw your foot forward; it takes you with it. All I did was the clutching—changed my weights and springs in my clutching—and it’s phenomenal.

How long have you been riding? I’ve done it from day one, basically, growing up in Ontario on the lakes and trail riding with my friends. It’s a whole new ball game out here though. Last year was pretty much my first year (sledding in the mountains).

Where do you ride? I rode Fernie, B.C., a few times this year and the Salmo-Creston a couple of times—that was pretty decent; it’s a little more sketchy avalanche terrain though. With Lumberton, it’s always a little more packed than everywhere else—although when you go out you may not see anyone. But up in the Salmo, they don’t have any solid clubs that really utilize the trails so basically you ride on marked trails but they aren’t groomed or maintained so it’s a little bit better in that sense.

Where do you want to ride? I’m definitely gonna’ try to hit up Revelstoke and Sicamous.

Why do you go snowmobiling? The views (and) the terrain, it’s just unreal. When you can go up and over the top of mountain, it’s breathtaking—especially on a nice clear day when you see can see for miles. I love it. You never know what to expect, there’s something new every day.
