Cranbrook, B.C., sledder Chantelle Lockwood caught our eye when she sent in her unique Hotshots entry—a photo of herself dressed up in full bridal attire, aboard her brand new Dragon snowmobile. The impressive machine was a wedding present from the lucky groom, Quin Lockwood. Chantelle was excited to tell us about her experiences as a woman in the sledding world, and she kindly answered our questions:

How long have you been sledding?

This is my third season riding.

Where is your favourite area to ride?

My favourite place to ride around Cranbrook is up at Lumberton and Little Sand. (But) if I had the choice I would be riding in Revelstoke all the time—the riding is awesome there.

What would you tell other women who have not yet experienced the joy of snowmobiling?

Snowmobiling is not just a man's sport. There are more and more female riders out there. I have so much fun when I am out riding, all the laughs and good times. Yeah, so what, you get stuck once in a while—but that's half the fun, and then you get back on your sled and do it all over again.

If you have never tried it before get out and try it—not only is it a rush but it is also great exercise. Just try it and you'll understand why I am so hooked on the sport.

What make/model of machine do you ride?

In three riding seasons I have owned four sleds. Right now I ride a 2008 Polaris 700 Dragon.

Is there anything else you would like our readers to know?

Get out and ride—it is awesome!
