The community of Lac du Bonnet bills itself as a four-season playground, and it’s safe to say the attraction in at least three of those seasons is snowmobiling. Located in cottage country just an hour or so from Winnipeg, it’s a perfect place to make your headquarters for exploring miles and miles of eastern Manitoba trails.
A quick glance at a snowmobiling map for this region reveals a tight network of trails dotted with warm-up shelters for protection from the Manitoba winter. Those trails are all carefully maintained by some dedicated volunteers who are also snowmobilers. In fact, sledders in the Lac du Bonnet area can access trails groomed by four different snowmobile clubs: the Lee River Snow Riders, Nopiming Snomads, Eastman SnoPals and Mooswa Lake Snow Riders.
