Stephanie Schwartz, Darcie Downey and their fathers started their Tracks for Cancer run enveloped by the chill of minus 30 degree temperatures.
Unstoppable, the crew headed forth with duct tape on their faces to protect from frostbite. Schwartz and Downie yet again are astounded by the generosity of riders willing to brave even these frigid temperatures to ride long in support.
Massive club support has been felt by the Tracks for Cancer crew, as volunteers reach out to make the journey a little bit better for the riders. The Fort Saskatchewan Snow Angels helped to clear the trails and fill the tanks for these eager travellers. The Swan Hills Snowgoers, Whitecourt Trailblazers and Northland Snowgoers also showed their support, appreciation and generosity, lavishing the crew with everything needed to help them meet their goal of $30,000 by the end of this seven-day stretch.
Amidst frigid temperatures, the Tracks for Cancer crew pushes on. Their journey usually starts with a breath-catching minus 29 day. Wednesday morning in Fox Creek, Alberta, they welcomed their minus 17 degree start.
Rod North, president of the Northland Sno-Goers, presented a generous donation of $657, while the Foxwood Inn and Suites provided a $921 gift-in-kind donation. Post after post on the Tracks for Cancer Facebook page illustrates the kindhearted generosity supporters share with the crew—believing in not only the cause, but in Stephanie Schwartz, Darcie Downey and their fathers.
