From safety courses to snowmobile rallies: Don’t miss out on this lineup of late-season events for sledders

Spring might be approaching, but that doesn’t mean sledders are out of luck. Many snowmobiling communities are still being blessed with snow, and club activities are still taking place. We’ve put together a list of some of the major events you won’t want to miss.

With International Snowmobile Safety Week taking place January 13 - 21, 2024, many clubs are also hosting safety awareness events, so be sure to check with your local snowmobile organization and take advantage of the wealth of free education on offer this month! 

Fernie Snowmobile Association Avalanche Awareness and Demo Days

January 20, 2024
Fernie, British Columbia

Fernie's favourite backcountry event is back, with a day of free safety demonstrations and education at the Rolling Hills Cabin in Fernie. Members of the Elk Valley Snow Shepherds, The Avalanche Canada South Rockies Field Team, and Fernie Search and Rescue will be there to answer questions about sledding safety. There will also be a barbecue, prizes and more in store!

2024 Iron Sledder Challenge

February 3, 2024 - Fox Creek, Alberta
February 17, 2024 - Whitecourt, Alberta
February 24, 2024 - Swan Hills, Alberta

Think you’re up for a challenge? The annual Iron Sledder Challenge is hosted by clubs in the Golden Triangle region of Alberta. The 2024 event will be held by the Fox Creek Northland Sno-Goers, the Whitecourt Trailblazers and the Swan Hills Snow-Goers! The golden and iron sledder awards include medals and cash prizes, so it’s worth participating in all three rallies to qualify.

44th Annual SnoMo Days

February 17-19, 2024
Alberta Beach, Alberta

Take in a weekend of family fun at the 44th Annual SnoMo Days, hosted by the Alberta Beach & District Lions Club, with the assistance of the LSA Army Cadets, 50+ Club, LSA ATV Club, Alberta Beach Snowmobile Club, and the Alberta Relic Riders. The funds raised go toward charitable causes. In addition to the snowmobile poker rallies, there will be a wide range of other winter-themed activities, including ice skating, car races on ice, a snowmobile and ATV parade and much more!

Provincial Snowmobile Festival 2024

February 23 & 24, 2024
North Battleford, Saskatchewan

This annual festival is taking place six kilometres east of North Battleford at Ritchie Bros Auctioneers/Kramer Trailer Sales, on the north side of Highway 16. There will be snowball activities, refreshments, vintage sled displays and a banquet in the evening with a live auction and music performed by the Slow Walking Walters. There is a free shuttle service to all hotels on Friday and Saturday. There will also be awards, speeches by members of the Saskatchewan Snowmobile Association (SSA) and of course, the SSA raffle draw and 50/50.

ASA Jamboree

March 1 - 3, 2024
Edson, Alberta

This year’s Alberta Snowmobile Association Jamboree is being hosted by the Edson Sno-Seekers, and promises to be a fun-filled evening. Kick things off with a meet-and-greet at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 51, then enjoy a weekend of activities such as a vintage show-and-shine, poker rally and a banquet at the end.
