Houston is surrounded by pristine B.C. wilderness, making it ideal for those who love outdoor recreation. In the winter, stellar snow conditions create a prime spot for snowmobiling. The best part? You can find something for you and your family no matter what type of terrain you prefer.
One of the most well-known spots to take your sled is the Telkwa Range, located 15 kilometres from Houston. Here there is a diverse range of trails - you can find easy or intermediate routes, or more difficult terrain for seasoned sledders who seek a challenge. The deep-powder meadows and hill-climbing opportunities are sure to impress, and there is a club cabin where you can stop and take a break.
Keep in mind that there is a $20-per-day trail fee for sledders who are not members of the Houston Snowmobile Club, since this area has several trails that are groomed to perfection.
Another area you may want to visit is Rhineridge. There is a cabin there as well, built by the Burns Lake and Houston snowmobile clubs. It's a bit farther from town than the Telkwa Range, but the deep valleys and exceptional mountain riding makes it worth the trip.
