Trail Blizzer ice scratchers

by Kirsten Armleder

If you aren’t already running ice scratchers on your snowmobile, now is the time to get a pair. In the spring, fresh snow is scarce—especially on the trails—but your sled needs it to cool the engine and keep the sliders lubricated.

Ice scratchers work by biting into hard-packed snow and ice and then spraying it onto your sled's heat exchanger and sliders.

There are several brands of scratchers on the market, and one we’d like to bring to your attention is the Trail Blizzer from Qualipièces, a company based in Drummondville, Quebec.

Trail Blizzer ice scratchers are cable scratchers, so they’re flexible and won’t snap if the snowmobile is put into reverse. Trail Blizzer ice scratchers are made of a durable, industrial-grade metal and they come with replaceable steel or carbide tips so that when they do wear out, you don’t have to replace the entire scratcher.

According to Qualipièces, these scratchers take less than 30 minutes to install and they will fit any year, make or model of snowmobile.
