Whitecourt wrap-up

by Kirsten Armleder

Members of the Whitecourt Trailblazers snowmobile club in Whitecourt, Alberta, are wrapping up another excellent sledding season. On April 18, 2012, the club will be hosting a volunteer appreciation night and general meeting at the Whitecourt Legion in Whitecourt. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and there will be food, drinks and sledding stories to be enjoyed. The club’s general meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. and everyone is welcome to attend.

This year, the club received a donation of $15,000 from the Joint Economic Development and Tourism Committee in Whitecourt to help cover its cost of grooming trails. Throughout the season, there was a club member stationed at the Eagle River staging area who provided trail passes for visitors. In total, the Trailblazers sold 281 season passes and 557 day passes this year.

As of March 28, the Eagle River staging area remained open but the sledding season is coming to a close. See the club’s website for current information.
