The Alberta Snowmobile Association (ASA) held its annual excellence awards ceremony in Edmonton on October 18, 2014, and the award for Outstanding Snowmobiler of the Year for 2014 went to Ken Linford of the Whitecourt Trailblazers.

Linford lives in Whitecourt, Alberta, and he has been involved in organized snowmobiling for the past 17 years. For many of those years, he served as president of the Whitecourt Trailblazers. Under his leadership, the club has become one of the ASA’s largest and most active snowmobile clubs. Linford, though, takes an interest in not only the needs of his own club, but those of others in the ASA fold as well. He has been known to provide sound information to smaller clubs, and he is a regular attendee at rallies held by neighbouring clubs.

We here at SnoRiders have always known Linford to be well-spoken, knowledgeable and very welcoming when it comes to snowmobiling in Whitecourt.

These days, Linford serves as the past president on the Whitecourt Trailblazers’ executives committee. He is also a key contact for the Golden Triangle Snowmobile Trail Consortium and an executive member for the World Snowmobile Invasion organizing committee.

The ASA hands out 10 awards in different categories each year. Excellence award winners are selected through nominations that are sent in to the ASA.
