Behind the lens for Fall 2014

SnoRiders would like to introduce our cover photographer for the Fall 2014 issue

by Monte Smith

This was the photo that appeared on our cover for the Fall 2014 issue.

A great photo is hard to beat—especially if you are the subject and if you are on a sled and doing something cool (read: nearly crashing). I have many of these pictures, thanks to my wife, Kirsten Armleder, and her photography skills—paired, of course, with my ability to nearly crash in epic fashion at any second.

On this day, however, I had managed to pry the camera out of my wife’s fingers to hopefully capture a glimpse of her mad skills, and I’m happy to say that on the cover you have the result.

Monte Smith is an instructor based in Cranbrook, B.C., but when he’s not teaching people how to drive the world’s biggest trucks, Smith spends his time chasing deep powder days. The pursuit has taken him to places like Fernie, Sparwood, Valemount and Golden, which is where our cover photo was captured.
