by Dwayne Brandly—Last season I had an opportunity to test out a new snowmobile cover made by Sno-Skinz. I put the cover to the test by hauling my sled out to Mount Pukeashun and back, as well as to my favourite local area near Alder Flats, Alberta, and several places in between.
It got soaking wet, covered in mud spray and frozen solid. The sled even slipped down my ramp with the cover on, and I thought it would be a goner with some rips at the handlebars. However, there were no rips at the seams, no tears, no wear spots and it did not freeze to the machine.
I found the cover is waterproof and made of a material called Super VI Polyester Plus, which does not seem to allow any wearing at the stress points. It is colourfast, will not fade, and when power-washed, the colours didn’t run. It did not shrink when it dried and did not stretch when it was wet on the outside. I have used many different snowmobile covers over the past 30 years and this is the best cover, by far, that I have found.
